Our Mission: To empower all students to reach their full potential.

We are “Committed to Excellence”, and we work hard to make the site a primary source for timely information for all users, and a main gateway for improved communication between parents, teachers, students and other members of our community. Our goal and responsibility is to help each student develop an enthusiasm for learning, a respect for self and others, and the skills to become a creative independent thinker and problem solver.

                                 Ms. Mikelson - Elementary Principal

The 2018-2019 school year marks my eighteenth year in education, and first as an administrator. I am excited to be a part of Oroville Elementary and look forward to getting to know the students, staff, and parents. I graduated from Carroll College with an Elementary Education degree  and Reading endorsement. Recently, I obtained a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Washington State University.

My teaching career began in Rathdrum, Idaho, where I taught 6th grade for nine years at a K-6 grade school. I loved teaching in a small town, but was ready for a new challenge and relocated to Spokane Valley. During my time with the Central Valley School District, I spent two years teaching 3rd grade before moving to a K-8th grade school, serving as their Instructional Coach. Each of these unique educational experiences has prepared me to be an instructional leader at OES, and brought me back to being a member of a small community again. I look forward to working alongside a dedicated and supportive community to ensure the best learning environment for our students and staff.
